How to Make a Sales Lead List

Author: Jerry Hilbert

Building your sales lead list is an important part of your business. By having your own list, you potentially have a ready market to sell your products to. Whether the product or service that you are offering is an old one or a new development, you will have the advantage of tendering it to the people on your list. It will also be much simpler to inform these people about any events concerning your company.

Obviously, lead management is a vital part of an online business. However, to build your list, you first need to capture some leads. There are several ways to accomplish this, and you simply have to choose the method that works best for you. Here are some suggestions:

Use an auto responder. Set up your auto responder to accept interested subscribers. Program your auto responder to send out messages on a regular basis, preferably messages that your subscribers will enjoy getting. Keep your readers interested, and provide them with information that they want and need.

Offer something for free. Everyone loves it getting something for free. If you have a hard time getting subscribers, try offering something for free. As with your messages, try to offer something with substance, a product or service that your readers will enjoy receiving. Be sure to remind your readers of the benefits that will accrue to them when they join your sales lead list and use your products.

Make joining as easy as possible. Not all your visitors will be computer-savvy, so be sure to make subscribing to your list as easy as possible. The design for your opt-in web page should be as simple and unobtrusive as possible. In fact, make it impossible for your visitors to miss it. Ideally, just put up a few text boxes, for your subscriber's name and e-mail address, as well as a little information about your business.

Rent an e-mail list. Renting e-mail lists can be effective, but you will have to be a bit selective when you do this. Try to select only the best lists, the ones that you feel are most relevant to your field of business. The reason for this is that many e-mail lists up for rent can be quite expensive, and many others are simply ineffective.

Buy some lead packages. Buying lead packages can be helpful to your business. As with renting e-mail lists, however, you have to be selective. The hard part is choosing the packages that will work for you. A lot of companies claim that they sell fresh, targeted leads, but only a small minority actually conduct their business in this way. For the most part, these companies resell their leads over and over again, which dilutes their effectiveness. Lead packages can also be quite expensive, especially for smaller ventures.

Building your own sales lead list will take some time and a lot of effort, but it will be worth your while. By increasing the number of your online business opportunity leads, you will be increasing your sales, which, of course, will lead to more profits.
